Picking Out Granite Slabs
When it comes time to select your granite countertops, you’ll also need to choose a fabricator. They’ll be the ones to cut and install your granite, transforming it from a slab of natural stone to a perfectly formed and finished countertop. You may already have someone in mind, but if you don’t, we are happy to help point you in the right direction.
But finding a fabricator is only half the battle – perhaps the most significant challenge is selecting your actual countertop material. That’s where we come in!
As the leading importer and distributor of natural stone in the greater Portland area, near Beaverton, we are here to provide you with advice and guidance so that you come away with the kitchen counter, island, or vanity of your dreams.
When you’re ready to pick out your material, we strongly suggest that you come to see the stone in person. Your fabricator may have samples of some materials, but these won’t show you what your full countertop will look like. Because granite is a natural product, every slab will be different, even between two slabs of the same material. Granite occurs across a broad spectrum of colors, from blacks and greys to blues, yellows, and greens. Veining, speckling, and movement will also vary widely, making each piece of granite unique. For this reason, once you’ve selected a material, we also strongly encourage hand-selecting your specific slab (or slabs).
If you are remodeling a space, it’s helpful to bring swatches of your cabinet, wall, and floor materials with you. Our staff at Intrepid Marble and Granite are more than happy to help you as part of this exciting — and oftentimes, daunting — process, as well as communicate with your fabricator to ensure that everyone participating in your job stays in the loop.
Granite Countertops
For many years, granite countertops have consistently been some of the most popular countertop choices for homeowners in the United States. And for a good reason. They are incredibly durable and resistant to everyday wear and tear. They won’t stain if they are sealed properly (for most granites, we recommend sealing once about every five years), and they won’t scratch or chip easily.
Granite’s natural beauty is unmatched. There are so many different colors and patterns that you will have no problem finding a slab that goes perfectly with the rest of your design. With over 30,000 sqft of showroom stocked full of granite, marble, quartz and many other materials there is no doubt in our minds that you will be able to find the perfect material for your home or business. Our team are experts on all of our products and are here to help you find the colors, patterns, or styles that will fit your criteria perfectly.
